POLICE in Rukwa region have affirmed that the controversy surrounding the sudden death of magistrate Michael Royan will only be cleared by Chief Government Chemist.
Royan ,31, was serving as magistrate at Kasanga Primary Court in Kalambo district in Rukwa region succumbed to death while sleeping at one of the guest houses in Sumbawanga Town.
The Rukwa Regional Police Commander (RPC) told this paper over phone interview said that the shocking incident occurred on November 27th this year in Sumbawanga municipality.
It was explained that Rayon arrived in Sumbawanga from Kasanga ward along the shoreline of Lake Tanganyika and subsequently checked in at one of the guest houses.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ms Mallya said that the deceased was suspected to have committed suicide after taking in unidentified poisonous substance.
” Several parts of the deceased ‘s organs have been sent to the Chief Government Chemist in efforts to solve the puzzle of his sudden death ” explained the regional police boss.
She went ahead to explained that the owner of the guest house alerted Regional Crime Officer (RCO) over the incident that man who checked in his guest house had passed out in his room.
“Officers arrived at the scene of incident and rushed him to Rukwa regional referral hospital for treatment but only to be confirmed that he was already dead.
“His body underwent autopsy and subsequently some of his organs have been sent to Chief Government Chemist to solve the puzzle of his sudden death” added the RPC.
According to RPC preliminary investigations officers, it has been proven that the deceased was a civil servant from judiciary department in Rukwa region who was stationed at Kasanga Primary court.
Equally, she explained that the deceased did not leave behind any written message which made difficult for officers to immediately ascertain the cause of his sudden death.
She further said updates will be made known to the public once the results from the Chief Government Chemist are out.
