Chamwino to host bike, rickshaw plant

DODOMA: DODOMA Region is set to launch the second phase of its investment partnership with Chinese investors from LIFAN Group Company, which is focusing on establishing a motorcycles and rickshaws assembly plant in Chamwino District.

Assistant Regional Administrative Secretary (Trade and Investment), Ms Mwajabu Nyamkomora told reporters on Wednesday that a delegation from China-based LIFAN Group and TAMOBA companies visited the RC’s office for discussion on various issues related to investment in the region. She said the investors were introduced to various investment opportunities available in the Tanzania’s Capital city.

Ms Nyamkomora added that the government has already designated a 100-acre plot in Chamwino District specifically for investment, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the private sector in the region.

“The land is ready and as a region, we have already made necessary preparations to facilitate investors. We welcome this project as it aligns with the region’s industrialisation goals,” she said.

On his part, Director General and representative of TAMOBA Company, Mr Joseph Kimisha said Dodoma has been strategically chosen to serve as the central hub for their six operational zones across the country.

The zones include the Lake Zone, Northern Zone, Eastern Zone Southern Zone, Central Zone and Southern Highlands Zone.

“This central location will enhance the efficiency of our distribution network and after-sale services,” Mr Kimisha noted.

The delegation was led by Mr Joseph Evarist Kimisha, TAMOBA Director General, Mr Xiong Wey, Representative of LIFAN GROUP and TAMOBA, Mr Godwill Benda, Head of Legal and Planning Department and Director of Administration and Business, Ms Agness Masokola.

The move is expected to create jobs, boost technology transfer and enhance the availability of locally assembled transport solutions in Tanzania, contributing to the nation’s industrialisation drive.
