CECAFA U-17: Its Serengeti Boys vs Ethiopia today

SERENGETI Boys are all set to launch their 2022 Under-17 CECAFA championship on top gear as they face Ethiopia in group A clash at Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia today.

The tournament is being used as a qualification platform for the 2023 Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and two finalists will represent the CECAFA region in the finals.

Six Under-17 national teams are vying for an opportunity to play in the finals.

Speaking yesterday ahead of the match, Serengeti Boys player Shabani Mussa reiterated that with the best preparations they have, he is adamant that they will shine in the competition.

“We started our drills in Karatu, Arusha where we pitched a successful camp before coming here for the contest. The good thing is that we are all ready for tomorrow’s (today) match.

“On behalf of fellow players, I strongly believe that the preparations we have done so far are enough to support us claim victory in our opening match,” he said.

Tanzania’s envoys are in group A together with Ethiopia and South Sudan while in group B, there are Uganda, South Sudan and Burundi.

The team is under the tutelage of Kim Poulsen who has a big task to ensure that he drives them all the way to the finals in order to earn automatic qualification to the AFCON finals.
