CDF 2024 Cup to kick off on July 20
DAR ES SALAAM: THE CDF 2024 Cup is scheduled to kick off on July 20 and culminate on July 30, 2024, with the opening match to be staged at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Chairman of the competition, Brigadier General Said Hamis Said assured the press that preparations are in full swing, promising an exciting and engaging event for all participants.
“The tournament aims to enhance the health and foster unity and cohesion among the soldiers of the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (JWTZ),” General Said elaborated.
He emphasised that the competition aims to gather soldiers from all commands across the country, including officers, soldiers and public servants within the military, fostering health improvement and strengthening unity, cooperation, and cohesion in their daily duties.

General Said outlined the tournament’s inclusion of various sports teams from all military commands, including Headquarters Command, Army Command, Air Force Command, Navy Command, Reserve Force Command, and National Service Command.
“The tournament will feature nine sports: men’s football, women’s netball, men’s and women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s handball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s boxing, and men’s and women’s shooting,” he explained.
He further highlighted that besides promoting unity among soldiers, the tournament will award trophies and medals to the winning teams, incentivizing competitive spirit and achievement.
