CCM’s Women Wing marks party’s anniversary with charity initiatives

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Women’s Wing of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM-UWT) at the grassroots level in Dar es Salaam marked the party’s 48th anniversary over the weekend with various charity activities, demonstrating their support for President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership.

CCM, founded on February 5, 1977, is celebrating its anniversary with a series of nationwide events leading up to the main celebration.

In Dar es Salaam, UWT leaders organised charitable efforts to support vulnerable groups.

In Msasani Ward, the women’s wing donated sanitary pads to female students at Msasani Primary and Secondary Schools to help them manage menstruation without missing classes.

Ms Jane Mwambebule, CCM’s Political and Publicity Secretary for Msasani Ward, emphasised the group’s support for the recent party’s Extraordinary Meeting in Dodoma, which endorsed President Samia as CCM’s presidential candidate for the Union government and Dr Hussein Mwinyi for Zanzibar.

“As women, we take pride in having a female leader, especially as she is the first woman to lead an East African country. We have witnessed her bold leadership, evident in major development projects she has undertaken,” Ms Mwambebule said.

“We came to Oysterbay Primary and Secondary Schools to encourage the students, reminding them that another leader like Samia could emerge from among them,” she added.

She also called on stakeholders to support underprivileged girls whose families cannot afford sanitary pads. Another UWT representative, Ms Jerry Mohamed, said, “We are here to support young girls because we are women ourselves.”

Speaking after donating essential supplies to schools and a health facility, Msasani UWT Secretary, Ms Mwajuma Bwaru, underscored the importance of continued support for those in need.

“Today, UWT Msasani has taken an important step by visiting primary and secondary schools, as well as the Mikoroshini Dispensary, where we have donated essential items such as sanitary pads, mosquito repellents, baby diapers and more. Our goal is to support the government’s efforts under President Samia,” Ms Bwaru said.

At Makuburi Ward, UWT Secretary Severina Minga noted that they celebrated CCM’s 48 years by sharing love with mothers who had just given birth.

“We marked this anniversary by cutting a cake and providing essential supplies to patients at Makuburi Health Centre, particularly mothers who gave birth on Thursday night. We also appreciated healthcare workers by giving them gifts to motivate them,” Minga said over the weekend.

Ms Editha Ngoitanile, a member of the UWT committee at Makuburi ward, echoed similar sentiments, saying, “We have shown our love for mothers who gave birth on the eve of CCM’s anniversary. This is part of our celebrations on February 5. We are praying for our President and we stand firmly behind her leadership.”
