CCM faces no opposition in seven Geita constituencies

GEITA: CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has confirmed that its parliamentary candidates will run unopposed in seven out of nine constituencies in Geita Region, giving the ruling party a significant advantage ahead of the October 29, 2025, General Election.

The announcement was made by Geita Regional CCM Chairperson, Mr Nicolous Kasendamila, during the official launch of the party’s parliamentary campaign held at the CCM grounds in Katoro Town Authority.

Mr Kasendamila said the absence of opposition candidates in the majority of constituencies demonstrates the depth of public trust and confidence in CCM.

He noted that opposition parties had only managed to field candidates in two constituencies, while in the rest CCM stands uncontested.

“In seven constituencies, we are running unopposed. This clearly shows the confidence people have in CCM. Although opposition parties have put forward candidates in only two constituencies, we are confident that CCM will win all nine,” he said.

He further urged citizens across Geita Region to turn out in large numbers to cast their votes, stressing that even in areas without competition, the electoral process still matters.

“It is important for voters to exercise their democratic right. Even where a candidate is unopposed, the people still hold the power to approve or reject that candidate through the ballot,” Mr Kasendamila emphasised.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the nine constituencies in Geita Region are Geita Urban, Geita, Nyang’hwale, Mbogwe, Busanda, Katoro, Bukombe, Chato South and Chato North.

Out of these, only Mbogwe and Katoro constituencies have opposition candidates facing off against CCM nominees.

The development highlights the party’s firm grip on Geita, a region that has historically been one of CCM’s strongholds.

The area, known for its mineral wealth and rapid growth, has consistently voted in favour of the ruling party and this year appears no different.

The campaign launch drew a large crowd of party supporters, with leaders urging voters to continue backing CCM’s vision for stability and development.

As the countdown to election day continues, the ruling party enters the race in Geita with strong momentum and a clear path to retaining all nine parliamentary seats.
