CCM endorses 208 aspirants, calls for unity

DODOMA: THE ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Political Committee in Dodoma Region has endorsed 208 out of 209 top aspirants from the party’s councillorship primaries, officially naming them as the party’s flag bearers for the upcoming General Election scheduled for October.
The only exception was in Ihumwa Ward, where the leading aspirant from the primaries was dropped and replaced by the runner-up, a move the party said was due to “various reasons” determined during the vetting process.
Announcing the outcome in Dodoma on Thursday, CCM Regional Secretary for Ideology and Publicity, Mr Jawadu Mohamed, said the endorsement marked the end of the selection phase for councillorship positions in the region.
“This process has been concluded today. There will be no more screening meetings for councillorship candidates— these are now the official CCM nominees for the October elections,” he emphasised.

Mr Mohamed underscored the need for total unity within the party, urging members to immediately dissolve all campaign camps and factions formed during the primaries and rally behind the approved candidates.
“The time for camps is over. While it was necessary for every contestant to have their own supporters during the primaries, no CCM member in Dodoma should maintain such divisions. Now is the moment for CCM to march forward as one,” he said.
He further appealed to those who were not successful in the nomination process to show political maturity and join hands with the endorsed aspirants to ensure the party retains its dominance at the local government level.
“The victory of our candidates will be the victory of CCM as a whole. Let us work together to secure an overwhelming win in October,” he added.
