CCM elevates Ndejembi to Tanzania’s Vice President post

DAR ES SALAAM: THE ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has appointed the Energy Minister, Deogratius Ndejembi, to serve as the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania.

The decision follows the resignation of the former Vice President, Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi.

CCM Secretary-General Dr Asha Migiro announced the decision today, August 26, 2026,  while addressing media outlets at the party’s Lumumba offices in Dar es Salaam.

Dr Migiro said Ndejembi’s app[ointment followed the party’s internal process after the position became vacant following the resignation of Dr Nchimbi.

His appointment is now expected to go through the constitutional and legal procedures required before Ndejembi can formally assume the position, subject to approval in accordance with established procedures.

Ndejembi, who has been serving as Minister of Energy, is among the government leaders responsible for overseeing the energy sector, a key area for Tanzania’s economic growth and national development.
