Call for Tanzanian farmers to use the Nanenane Exhibitions in learning agro-business

DODOMA: THE Tanzanian government has called on farmers to use the 2026 Nanenane Agricultural Exhibitions to acquire modern farming technologies and shift from subsistence agriculture to commercial production.

Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture responsible for Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanisation, Engineer Athumani Kilundumya, made the call while inspecting preparations for the annual exhibition to be held next month..

Elaborating, the Engineer said this year’s exhibition will provide farmers with practical knowledge on the use of improved seeds, good agricultural practices and modern technologies aimed at boosting productivity, improving crop quality and increasing value addition.

Engineer Kilundumya noted that the event will also connect farmers with researchers, extension officers and private sector stakeholders, enabling them to access innovations that can transform agricultural production and enhance incomes.

Meanwhile, Dodoma Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule said preparations for the 2026 exhibition are at an advanced stage, with significant improvements made to infrastructure at the exhibition grounds.

She said permanent buildings have been constructed to ensure the venue continues serving the public throughout the year by providing services related to agriculture, livestock and fisheries, even after the exhibitions conclude.

The annual Nane Nane exhibitions bring together farmers, agribusinesses, researchers, financial institutions and technology providers to showcase innovations and promote the commercialization of Tanzania’s agricultural sector.
