CAG board strengthens oversight capacity
ZANZIBAR: THE Board of Directors of the Office of the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) is strengthening its oversight capacity as part of efforts to improve accountability and governance in public institutions.
The training seeks to equip board members with skills to address emerging challenges in public sector governance.
Opening the session, Board Chairman Prof Mohammed Hafidh Khalfan said the programme provides members with an opportunity to strengthen their performance through experience sharing.
“We always have an opportunity to learn. Such training helps build strong relationships between boards, reduces conflicts and enhances efficiency in executing our responsibilities,” he said.
Prof Khalfan said effective cooperation between boards and institutional leadership is essential for promoting transparency and ensuring public institutions achieve their objectives.
Controller and Auditor General Dr Othman Abbas Ali said the training forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the board’s capacity to respond to changing demands in public sector management.
