CAFCL: Wydad through to semis after eliminating Simba

Resilient Simba have been knocked out of the CAF Champions League after suffering a 4-3 post-match penalty defeat to Wydad Casablanca.

The action packed second leg quarterfinals match at Stade Mohammed V in Morocco on Friday night has seen the hosting side earning a semifinal space.

The hosts seized the lead in the 24th minute courtesy of Bouly Sambou which sustained to the last minute of the clash.

Without doubt, the country’s envoys put in a spirited fight to force the tense game into shootouts after a 1-1 aggregate.

Zambian import playmaker Clatous Chama missed his spot-kick for Simba as it was saved by Wydad goalie to drive his team to the last four.

As such, Simba have once again finished the Champions League campaign in the quarter-final package.

Though the Reds are out, football fraternity continue to laud them for their work-rate versus the reigning champs.
