YOUNG Africans’ opponent in the CAF Confederation playoff stage will be known today after CAF conducts a draw in Cairo, Egypt.
After their dismissal from the CAF Champions League by Al Hilal on 2-1 aggregate score, Yanga joined eliminated teams in the top tier.

They will play the additional decisive round that will qualify them for the 2022-2023 CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
Yanga were demoted to the CAF Confederation after losing 1-0 to Al Hilal of Sudan in their return leg. They have revealed their focus on the local league and CAF Confederation playoff.
Yanga failed to advance to the CAF Champions League group stage after conceding a 1-0 loss in the second leg match at Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman.
Mohamed Raman’s third minute goal was enough to eliminate the Tanzanian envoys with an aggregate score of 2-1 following a 1-1 draw in the first leg at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Yanga President Engineer Hersi Said made the remarks after the return leg on Sunday, where he insisted they will work on the faults they observed and will be back stronger.
“We are going back home, and we are going to prepare for local competitions and also CAF Confederation.
We promise to work on the faults we observed as leaders, technical bench and players. We will come back stronger.”
Following the results, Yanga failed to break its 24-year record of reaching the CAF Championship League group stage; the last time it went through the group stage was in 1998.
In this year’s campaign, Yanga began their campaign well in the preliminary stage after eliminating Zalan FC of South Sudan with a total aggregate score of 9-0.
