CAF pleased with Mkapa Stadium upgrading

DAR ES SALAAM: CAF delegates have expressed satisfaction with work done at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium ahead of the two CAF Champions League matches.

The venue will host both national envoys; Simba and Young Africans first leg quarter final games. Simba will meet Egyptian giants, Al Ahly today, while Yanga will play against Mamelodi Sundowns tomorrow.

Following a thorough inspection of the venue, CAF delegates acknowledged the venue is ready to host both matches. This was highlighted by a CAF official, Collins Okinyo, who stated everything is in order.

“I am pleased with the work done at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. Tanzania is blessed to have two teams at the quarterfinals stage. This is delightful for football enthusiasts in the country,” he said.

He further expressed confidence that both games will conclude with harmony without any challenges. Commenting on the lighting at the venue, Kim Bananuka, the Lighting System Expert, confirmed his satisfaction on the floodlights installed at the stadium. He added that they do not expect any troubles.

“We have inspected the floodlights installed at the venue and we are satisfied with how efficient are they. Football fans should not worry and should come in large numbers to witness their teams play,” he explained.

Remarking on the last touches at the Stadium, the venue Manager, Milinde Mahona, explained that necessary requirement needed to be completed before the Champions League matches have been finalised including the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

“CAF officials are satisfied with the work done at this stadium, VAR has been installed and all other necessary items,” he said.
