CAF CC: Newcomers Geita Gold lost 1-0 away to Hilal Al Sahil

CAF Confederation Cup (CAF CC) envoys Geita Gold have began their campaign negatively after succumbing to a 1-0 defeat to Hilal Al Sahil of Sudan.

An early goal by Omer Shamali in the 5th minute of the game was enough to give the Sudan’s giants a narrow home lead ahead of the reverse match slated at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam this weekend.

It was the first ever confederation cup game for Geita Gold in the club’s history and they will be forced to record a convincing home win in order to book a ticket of cruising to the next round.

Coincidentally, all the three envoys representing the country in CAF Interclub matches will be playing their second leg encounters this weekend at home.

Young Africans after producing a massive 4-0 away victory over Zalan FC welcomes the South Sudan side at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

Likewise, Simba who cherished a 2-0 success against Nyasa Big Bullets will be at the 60,000 capacity venue hosting the Malawi based side.

As such, basing on the recorded first preliminary round duels by Tanzania teams, only Geita Gold have conceded defeat but they still have an advantage to turn things around in the reverse fixture.
