Bunda water authority celebrates milestones under Samia

DODOMA: THE Bunda Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (BUWSSA) has successfully managed to increase water coverage to area citizens by an impressive 85 per cent within four years of President Samia Suluhu Hassan in office.

This significant achievement is due to budgetary allocations provided by the sixth phase government, that have facilitated the implementation of robust water projects in Bunda, Mara Region.

(BUWSSA) Executive Director, Esther Gilyoma, told journalists in Dodoma that water coverage in Bunda District had reached an impressive 85 per cent, adding that the coverage can even surpass 2025 95 per cent target set by the government.

According to her, the CCM Manifesto 2020-2025 sets a target of 95 per cent of water coverage in urban areas by the end of 2025.

However, she noted, with the ongoing projects in Bunda District, by end of this year, her institution will have gone up by more than the set target.

This milestone marks a transformative period for the citizens of Bunda, a town with a population of approximately 165,000 people.

“Under President Samia, BUWSSA has implemented a series of strategic initiatives aimed at improving water supply and sanitation services. Our organisation has focused on expanding infrastructure, enhancing service delivery and promoting sustainable water management practices,” said adding:

“Over the past four years, we have made significant strides in ensuring that our citizens have access to clean and safe water, our partnership with the government and various stakeholders has been instrumental in achieving these results.”

The BUWSSA boss expressed gratitude to President Samia for her unwavering support and commitment to improving water and sanitation services in Bunda and other parts of the country.

“Her leadership has inspired us to work harder and achieve our goals,” she said.
