Bunda Queens see new dawn in First league

THE Head Coach of the Mara-based First division Bunda Queens, Alley Ibrahim said he will work hard to ensure his team earns Women Premier League promotion next season.
Speaking during the regional women champions league’s final at Alliance ground here, Ibrahim congratulated his team for becoming the new champions and for being promoted to the First League.
“We had good preparations that enabled us to win the league title. We thank all the stakeholders who supported us and I congratulate my players for committing themselves and following the instructions we gave them,’’ he said.
He said last season they didn’t perform well and ended up in the quarter finals.
Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) president Wallace Karia also congratulated Bunda Queens team for winning the championship.
Bunda Queens won the championship after beating Mwanza Queens 5-4 on penalty shootout after a barren draw in 120 minutes.
He said the Federation will continue implementing various strategies so as to raise the women’s football in the country.
He hailed the Alliance football centre for producing many talented players in the national youths and women teams.
He said more than 30 per cent of the players have come from the centre.
He promised to bring back the women’s regional champions league tournament in the centre for another three years.
Alliance School’s Managing Director James Bwire thanked TFF for bringing the competition to the school.
He said his centre is ready to receive the competition again whenever it is asked.
Bunda Queens and Mwanza Queens have successfully earned promotion to the First league.
Bunda Queens also managed to produce Mariam Shaaban as the best goalkeeper of the tournament, while the best player was Esther Maseke and the best goal scorer was Jamila Selestin who netted six goals.
JMK Park finished third after beating Geita Gold Queens 2-0.
