Bukoba public school gets 30m/- ICT lab from Helios Towers

BUKOBA, KAGERA: Helios Towers has officially launched a modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory at Katale Secondary School in Bukoba District, Kagera Region, as part of its community investment programme aimed at supporting education and digital development in Tanzania.

The project was funded by Helios Towers Tanzania and implemented by Camara Education Tanzania in close collaboration with the school administration and Bukoba District education authorities.

The project, which cost more than Sh30 million, has provided the school with modern equipment, including 25 desktop computers, a projector, a Smart TV, a whiteboard and an ICT maintenance kit.

Speaking shortly after the launch, Helios Towers Director of Marketing and Sales Ellen Lupilli said the laboratory would help students learn ICT-related subjects, adding that the company aims to extend similar support to more schools, including those in rural areas.

For his part, Camara Education Tanzania Director Dayani Mbowe said the launch marked the beginning of a broader programme aimed at equipping schools with ICT facilities, in line with the Government’s emphasis on ICT education to enable students to keep pace with the digital world.

Representing the Bukoba Municipal Director, Consolata Joseph said the equipment would facilitate the teaching and learning of ICT, encouraging students to pursue subjects that are increasingly important in the technology-driven world.

She added that the Government would continue working with various education stakeholders to support efforts aimed at ensuring ICT education keeps pace with current technological developments.

Meanwhile, Katale Secondary School Headteacher Basharu Hussein and students thanked Helios Towers for providing the equipment, pledging to make full use of the facilities in their studies.
