BRELA tasked to fast-track business registration, upgrade digital systems

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister for Industry and Trade, Judith Kapinga, has urged BRELA to fast-track business registration and upgrade digital systems, aiming to boost service efficiency and supercharge Tanzania’s economic growth.

The minister made the call when opening BRELA’s Staff Council today, March 5, 2026,  emphasizing the importance of investing in human resources by providing timely training and entitlements.

According to the minister, staff wellbeing is a cornerstone of institutional success.

Elaborating, the minister said that according to various stakeholder studies, over 80 percent of businesses in Tanzania operate in the informal sector, making it essential for BRELA to lead efforts in formalising these enterprises.

“Formalising businesses will help small entrepreneurs access loans, markets, and legal protection for their commercial activities,” she said.
