BRELA sponsors educational tour to Dodoma for 100 needy pupils

DODOMA: THE Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA) has reaffirmed its commitment to corporate social responsibility by sponsoring an educational tour to Dodoma for 100 orphans and children with disabilities from ‘Tulee Yatima Tanzania’ (TUYATA) orphanage centre based in Magomeni Mwembechai, Dar es Salaam.
Conducted via the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), the tour offered beneficiaries a rare opportunity to experience the country’s seat of government and witness key national development projects first-hand.
The initiative follows a pledge made by BRELA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Godfrey Nyaisa, during a special iftar event held in the holy month of Ramadan.
The event was part of the BRELA‘s ongoing efforts to give back to the community in recognition of the support it receives from the public.
TUYATA , located along Mwembechai Street in Magomeni, currently supports 36 children with disabilities, 200 orphans, and 60 widows.
Speaking on behalf of BRELA, the Head of Communication, Ms Joyce Mgaya, said the initiative was a reflection of BRELA’s deep commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.

“Out of love, compassion, and goodwill, our CEO thought it wise to give these children who have dreams and the right to enjoy their country an opportunity to visit the nation’s capital and see some of the key development projects being implemented,” she said.
Ms Mgaya noted that for many children, this was their first time boarding the SGR or visiting Dodoma, adding that the trip is part of several outreach programmes that BRELA has initiated over the years.

She also revealed that during the month of Ramadan, BRELA contributed more than 4m/- to support the centre and has since maintained a strong working relationship with TUYATA.

The founder and director of the centre, Ms Fauzia Jabir, expressed profound gratitude to BRELA for what she described as an unforgettable gesture.
“The children are overjoyed — this has never happened before. BRELA has done a commendable job by standing with these needy children. It motivates them to study harder after witnessing first-hand the beauty and opportunities our country holds,” she said.

She called on other institutions to emulate BRELA’s example while pointing out that despite the centre’s achievements in education, it continues to face major challenges—particularly in providing housing for orphaned children and widows.
She disclosed that the centre has more than 20 acres of land earmarked for building residential facilities and appealed for support to implement the project.
“Helping us build homes will empower widows to live independently and engage in income-generating activities that sustain their livelihoods,” she stated.
One of the beneficiaries of the centre, Ms Ayman Jaffar Abubakar, who also serves as a spokesperson, emphasised the difficulties involved in raising children from diverse and vulnerable backgrounds.
“It’s not easy, but through God’s grace, we are trying our best to provide proper guidance and discipline,” she said, while stressing the urgent need for proper housing. “Many of the children are currently staying with guardians, making it difficult to track their progress and welfare.”

She lauded BRELA for its continued support and called upon the agency to walk with them until their goals are fully realised.
“This trip to Dodoma has been a major eye-opener for our children. They’ve learned so much — this is the seat of power, and the city is very clean and impressive. Through BRELA’s support, we’ve gained valuable exposure and insights that will inspire these young minds,” she said.
The tour is expected to leave a lasting impact on the children a empowering them with hope and ambition to strive for a better and brighter future.
