‘Bongo Flavor’ artiste hit with 3m/- fine for releasing controversial song

DAR ES SALAAM BONGO Flavor artiste Ahmadi Ali ‘Madee’ has been fined 3m/- by the National Arts Council for allegedly releasing a song that does not conforms with Tanzanian cultural values.

A statement issued by the council’s Executive Secretary Kedmon Mapana on Thursday has also demanded the singer to remove the song from digital platforms.

“The song has been banned from being played anywhere…and the council has requested the Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority (TCRA) to prevent it from being played at media stations,” reads part of the statement.

It also reveals that producer of the song Mr. T Touch has been fined 1m/- so as the person who posted the song on digital platforms.

“The council reminds artistes to uphold creativity when producing their artistic works…and they should adhere to the available ethical guidelines,” it says.
