Bolt business growth soars to 56 per cent in 2024

DAR ES SALAAM: Bolt Business achieved remarkable growth last year, posting a 56 per cent increase in gross merchandise value, a sharp rise from the 29 per cent growth seen in the prior year.

During the period under review, the company also registered an impressive 213 per cent increase in clients.

The Senior Country Manager for Bolt Business in Tanzania, Ghana, and Tunisia, Mr Milu Kipimo, attributed the company’s exceptional performance to the growing trend among local organisations to digitise operations, enhance cost efficiency, and adopt environmentally sustainable solutions.

In addition, businesses are increasingly prioritising employee mobility management to improve overall operational efficiency.

“We are honoured to play a supportive and influential role in digitalising mobility across industries in Tanzania. More businesses and organisations are becoming conscious of efficiency and costs when selecting transport services,” said Mr Kipimo.

This growth is partly attributed to the efficiency of the travel mobility apps offered by Bolt, which provide a structured, transparent, and cost-effective system for managing transport.

These services help organisations reduce their reliance on personal vehicles, easing traffic congestion during peak hours. Furthermore, employees can take advantage of the more organised systems, which results in better time management and enhanced productivity.

Integrating these solutions also improves the overall service efficiency, security, and accountability of staff logistics.

Organisations and institutions that partner with Bolt Business have reported notable improvements in operational transparency and better management of employee transport.

Real-time tracking of employee movements during work hours ensures better accountability, while also contributing to a more streamlined and effective process.

The significant growth of Bolt Business is part of a larger trend towards the digital transformation of transport services in Tanzania.

Local businesses are increasingly opting for innovative solutions to meet their mobility needs, creating an ecosystem that is not only cost-effective but also environmentally friendly.
As Bolt continues to expand its reach, the company remains committed to helping local businesses reduce costs, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to sustainability by reducing the carbon footprint through more efficient and eco-friendly transport practices.

Bolt operates in over 50 countries and 600 cities worldwide and provides shared mobility services to over 200 million customers. More than 4.5 million drivers use the Bolt platform around the world.

The company seeks to accelerate the transition from owned cars to shared mobility, offering better alternatives for every use case.
The company’s products include ride-hailing, scooter and car rental services, food and grocery delivery, and corporate mobility services.
