Boda boda rider shot dead in Geita

A 30 – YEAR-OLD man, Amin Salum a resident of Nyamarembo Street, Mtakuja District in Geita Town Council has been shot dead by people who are yet to be identified.

The Geita Regional Police Commander ACP Safia Shomary told journalists here on Wednesday that Salum who was a motorcyclist was killed on November 1 in the midnight.

He said that, the suspects who killed Salum were trying to rob one of the residents in the street noting that measures are underway by Police to identify the suspects.

“It is a distressing incident because Salum as a motorcyclist tried to help the businessman who had been robbed.

The witness of the incident, whose name is Wilihard Ulirick (29), a passenger of the deceased said they got into trouble when they were helping to control the vandals.

“When we confronted them, we saw the light of a motorcycle, we saw the civilians riding, we blocked the way, suddenly all I heard was a gunshot, and found myself running away from the scene,”

He said that, he later managed to return to the scene but they found their colleague already dead.
