SIMBA striker John Bocco said he will continue to fight hard to enable his team claim big wins after netting a hat-trick in their 4-0 win over Ruvu Shooting at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam over the weekend.
The veteran ‘hitman’ netted his goals in the 3rd, 18th and 69th minutes to enable the Msimbazi Street Reds pocket maximum points and they have hauled 27 points after their 12-game onslaughts.
Also on target for the Msimbazi Street giants was right-back Shomari Kapombe who scored in the 36th minute to pen his name on the scorers’ sheet.
“The most important thing is to help my team win…of course, the competition for playing time is stiff that is why each player tries to showcase his skills at the best whenever given an opportunity to play.
“I will continue to work hard to help my team win matches. I think we were better than our opponent hence the reason we managed to register such a big win,” he said after the match while holding his ball reward for the good job well achieved.
It was the second successive hat-trick in the ongoing league after Young Africans striker Fiston Mayele posting the first hat-trick during their 4-1 win over Singida Big Stars at the same venue on Thursday.
His coach Juma Mgunda said he was not surprised with Bocco’s performance saying he is the captain of the team and he showed his value to the club by scoring three goals.
“I did rotation and opted to start him in today’s match and luckily, he has performed well. I salute him and all players who worked as a unit to produce this remarkable victory we are all cherishing,” he said.
Moreover, Mgunda heaped praise on creative midfielder Clatous Chama who provided two assists saying he is of a high quality and brought in something special throughout the match.
“Everybody knows the quality of Chama in our squad, he is a good player and has shown that today. All in all, each player has performed well to enable this massive win,” said Mgunda.
His counterpart for Ruvu Shooting Charles Mkwasa conceded the defeat saying Simba were superior to them hence they deserved the victory and they are now going to focus on other incoming league fixtures.
“We did not play at our best form, perhaps we used a lot of energy in our past game against Azam. If you give Simba playing space, they punish you like what they have done to us but, we still have answers to provide in our next encounters,” said Mkwasa.
It was his side’s second loss in a row which has seen them snatching 11 points in thirteen outings, not a convincing run for them hence they need to turn the corner in their upcoming games to accommodate better slots on the table.
