BMH removes avocadosized brain tumour from woman

DODOMA: THE Benjamin Mkapa Hospital (BMH) has achieved a remarkable medical feat by successfully removing a massive brain tumour from a 32-year-old woman from Mtumba, Dodoma City.

The tumour, which was described by Dr Maxgama Ndosi, the lead neurosurgeon, as being the size of an avocado, was removed after a delicate 15-hour life-saving surgery.

“She came to us unable to walk. After a thorough diagnosis, we discovered a large tumour on the right side of her brain. She has since been transferred to a hospital ward after spending one day in the ICU,” Dr Ndosi explained.

Ms Olivier Udoba, the patient’s mother, expressed deep gratitude to Benjamin Mkapa Hospital for the care provided to her daughter.

“I am thankful for the exceptional healthcare my daughter has received. She is now recovering well in the hospital ward,” said Ms Udoba.

Ms Udoba said that her daughter had been ill since September, experiencing severe complications, including febrile seizures.

“We decided to bring her to Benjamin Mkapa Hospital after her condition worsened. Initially, we had planned to take her to Dar es Salaam, but we ultimately chose to come here for treatment,” she said.
