Bluefins swimmers sparkle at Blue Marlins tour
BLUEFINS dictated terms in the FK Blue Marlins Swimming Championship after winning in the majority of races at the FK Secondary School pool in the city on Tuesday.
The tournament that featured 13 teams saw Bluefins collecting unassailable 1,441 points to take the overall trophy in the thrilling event.
Parading 1,078, Taliss-IST claimed the runner up position as the third place went to Dar Swim Club (DSC), who scored 1,025 points.
Bluefin swimmers won 62 medals; 19 gold, 21 silver, and 22 bronze medals.
The club’s athlete Abbas Abdulali won five gold medals and two silvers, while Zainab Moosajee won four gold and three silver medals while Aaliya Takim collected four gold medals and one silver.
Other swimmers who sparkled in the event were Avinav Mahapatra who won three gold, two silver, and two bronze medals as Kabeer Lakhani also won 3 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
Imaan Kimario claimed one gold, three silver, and two bronze medals.
Also performed well was Kaysan Kachra who won one gold, two silver, and three bronze medals.
Others are Jay Badiani (3 silvers and one bronze), Shuneal Bharwani (3 silvers and 1 bronze), Taher Zavery (2 silvers and 2 bronzes), Fatema Manji (2 silvers and 1 bronze), Sakina Abdulali (2 silvers), Adnan Hassanali (1 silver), Rayyan Kassam (1 silver), and Burhanuddin Mustansir, who won one silver.
Bluefins swimmers who also won overall trophy awards are Abbas Abdulali (winner in the boys 13–14 years old), Avinav Mahaptra (1st runner-up in boys of 15 years and above ), Imaan Mfaume (2nd runner-up in girls 9–10 years old), Zainab Moosajee (2nd runner-up in girls 11–12 years old), Aaliya Takim (2nd runner-up in girls 15 years and over ), Kabeer Lakhani (1st runner-up in boys 11–12 years), Kaysan Kachra (2nd runner-up in boys 11–12 years), and Taher Zavery (2nd runner-up in boys of eight years and under).
The club’s head trainer and founder, Rahim Alidina, said, “We are extremely happy that our swimmers put up a splendid show to emerge in the top position in this gala.
Our panel of coaches; Hassan Omar, Odilo Kamata, Michael Katala, Saidi Hodari, and Juma Mwenda, have been training them for quite a while, and these are the fruits of the hard work,”. He said they are now looking forward to next weekend’s Tanzania Nation Championships.
