Biteko to attend inauguration ceremony of President Boko

GABORONE, Botswana: Tanzania’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, will represent the country at the inauguration ceremony of Botswana’s President-elect, Gideon Duma Boko.

The inaugural celebrations will be held at Botswana’s National Stadium today.

Landing at the Gaborone Airport, Dr. Biteko was welcomed by Botswana’s Permanent Secretary of Youth, Gender, Culture, and Sports, Bridget John, Tanzania’s Ambassador to South Africa, James Bwana, along with other senior officials.

The 54-year-old, Gideon Duma Boko becomes the sixth President of Botswana under the Umbrella for Democratic Change party.

Duma Gideon Boko is a Botswana politician and lawyer currently serving as President of Botswana since November 1, 2024 and as leader of the Umbrella for Democratic Change since 2012.

He also served as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly from 2014 to 2019.
