Biteko stresses on private sector role in education

MUHEZA, TANGA: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr Dotto Biteko has highlighted the critical importance of actively involving private sector stakeholders in efforts to improve the education environment.

Dr Biteko was speaking in Muheza District, Tanga Region on Monday after receiving various education facilities donated by NMB Bank to schools in the district.

“This collaboration not only enhances access to education but also improves its quality, creating a conducive learning environment for students,” he said.

The 60m/- worth education items donated by NMB included 200 desks which are to be distributed to five primary schools in the district.

The beneficiary schools are Kwemkabala, Masuguru, Mdote, Mwembeni and Ngomeni where each school received 50 desks.

Also, the bank offered 40 beds and 80 mattresses for Ngomeni Primary School as well as and 32 beds and 64 mattresses for Masuguru Primary School.

The event went alongside the launch of the ‘Today’s Child, Tomorrow’s Samia’ campaign, which coincides with Education Week in the district.

“This campaign is built on the foundation of a tripartite approach to ensuring that a child receives quality education through the participation of parents, the government, and stakeholders, including NMB to improve the educational environment for students in the country,” he said.

By providing resources that enhance the quality of education, this partnership ensures that students grow up with the skills, knowledge, and values needed to become responsible, capable, and visionary leaders.

This investment in education is, therefore, an investment in the country’s future, as it nurtures a generation that will drive Tanzania’s social and economic development.

Tanga Regional Commissioner Dr Batilda Buriani stated that they are actively collaborating with various stakeholders including NMB to enhance the region’s standards of education.

The NMB’s Chief Control Officer, Ms Doreen Joseph said that to support the government’s efforts, the bank has provided educational materials to five primary schools in the district.

“In giving back to the community, we have focused on addressing challenges in the education sector, which is our priority, as we recognise the government’s efforts in overseeing education.

“Despite all the great things our government continues to do, we, as stakeholders, are happy to support these development efforts by assisting our community, as it is this community that has enabled NMB to reach where it is today and become the most successful bank in the country,” she said.
