DAR ES SALAAM: MANVEER Birdi continues to dictate terms in the Tanzanian motorsports scene after winning the second round of the Dar Rally Sprint in the midnight event staged at Tanganyika Packers grounds, Kawe in the city.
Birdi also won the first round in the event held at the same venue on January 19, 2025.
Birdi is also the 2024 National Rally Champion.
Cheered on by over 5,000 fans who filled the Tanganyika Packers grounds, Birdi overcame stiff opposition from Randeep Singh and Ally Nayani, clocking the event’s best time of 2 minutes, 10 seconds, and 84 points in Mitsubishi Evolution 9.
“Enjoyed driving in a closed circuit while cheered by bewildered fans,” he said after the end of the rally.
Like the first round, Randeep Birdi finished overall runner-up, also in Mitsubishi Evo 9, after clocking 2 minutes, 11 seconds, and 74 points.
The new face at the podium finish was Ally Nayani, who claimed the third spot after sending 2 minutes,13 seconds, and 90 points to complete a circuit.
Reacting to the overall performance in terms of organization and participation, the Chairman of Tanzania Motorsports Commission, Satinder Birdi, hailed all drivers and organizers for making the event a huge success.
“It was a perfectly organized event, and we will continue staging these short circuit races since they help to groom young drivers into future stars.
Others who performed well in the 6-hour racing showdown included Ramadhan Machupa who used an ordinary Toyota Corolla, veterans Irfan Aladin, Salim Haji Bullet, Zubayr Piredina, Karim khimji and Vishu Saini.
