Basketball Dar es Salaam (BD) has announced the return of the Basketball Dar es Salaam League (BDL) 2024 which entered its second phase.
The second phase of actions starts this weekend after about a month’s delay to pave way for players to represent their respective regions at the Taifa Cup Basketball tournament, which ended in Dodoma over the weekend.
The annual league second phase was early scheduled to start on June 1st at the Don Bosco Oysterbay and Upanga grounds in Dar es Salaam.

BD Technical and Competition Director unveiled in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the league is now ready to resume and thrill city basketball fans this weekend.
Kavalambi said that the league returns with ten actions on Saturday to played at two different venues Don Bosco Oysterbay and Upanga respectively.
According to the fixture revealed by Kavalambi two women’s category matches will see Police Star battling against Kurasini Divas and another game will be between Twalipo Queens and Kigamboni Queens are set to open the league with games scheduled at the same time at 11:00hrs.
While Men’s action openings games will see Mgulani JKT face Jogoo challenge at the Upanga venue and at the Don Bosco ground DB Oratory will rock on against ABC at 17:30hrs.
The fixture shows that the quarterfinals showdown is scheduled to start September 17 this year while the semis and finals battle will be played on September 28 and October 16 respectively.
“Men’s from quarterfinals will be best of five battles while for women’s discipline will be the best of three basis,” said Kavalambi.
The league that brings together 32 teams’ men’s and women’s first-round climaxed on May 19 this year to give room for the second round.
As per first phase standings Dar City and DB Troncatti stayed at the helms of men’s and women’s tables respectively.
Men’s defending champions Dar City is at the men’s summit after collecting 29 points from 15 played, second-placed also with 29 points from 15 matches is UDSM Outsiders, and Savio is settled in the third slot with 28 points from 15 played.
DB Troncatti with 30 points from 15 played is leading the women’s table while second-placed defending champions Vijana Queens have 28 points and third-place Jeshi Stars have 26 points.
