Barrick glitters at the Presidential Top Taxpayers Awards gala

DAR ES SALAM: BARRICK Mining Corporation has won the Presidential Taxpayers Award as the top taxpayer for 2024/25 financial year.

Operating in partnership with the government-owned Twiga Minerals Corporation, Barrick has continued to maintain its  status  as Tanzania’s top taxpayers from  the mining sector.

The Presidential Top Taxpayers Awards gala was part of events to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) held at Mlimani City in Dar es Salaam in the presence  of President Samia Suluhu Hassan  as its chief guest.

During the occasion, President Samia commended all institutions that have been faithfully paying their taxes through the authority.

Adding, Dr Samia the government values their contributions since the tax enables Tanzania to effectively implement its development projects and social welfare services to its citizens.

A day before, President Samia  hailed Barrick for contributing 221.9bn/- in dividends to the Tanzanian government. It was the highest amount the government collected from its public institutions for the 2025/26 period.

For Barrick, it is a continuation of its excellent performance in taxing which contributed to national development.

The company thanks TRA for honouring its contribution by awarding it.

Barrick, in partnership with Twiga Minerals, operates North Mara Gold Mine, Bulyanhulu and  Buzwagi mines.

The company’s Residential Manager,Dr Melkiory Ngido said during the occasion thanked the strategic partnership for producing the desired success  that enables Tanzanians to benefit from their country’s minerals.
