BARRICK Bulyanhulu Mine has donated two Biohazard Safety cabinet machines to Kahama Municipal Hospital and the Bugarama Health Centre located in the Msalala District in the Shinyanga region, worth 30m/- in its continuation of supporting the government’s efforts to improve health services in the community.
In a handover ceremony held at the Kahama Municipal Hospital over the weekend, Mine Acting General Manager, Josephat John donated the machines to Kahama District Commissioner, Mr Festo Kiswaga to be used for the laboratory services.
Speaking at the event, Acting General Manager of Barrick Bulyanhulu Mine, Mr John, said “We are proud to provide these special equipment to strengthen the medical infrastructure in the communities surrounding the company’s mines and this is a continuation of the company’s efforts to support the government’s efforts to improve services in the mining sector health in the country.” In his speech after receiver machines, the Kahama District Commissioner, Mr Kiswaga, thanked Barrick for cooperating with the government in improving the health of the community.
“Barrick has not been behind; you have always been in the front line, to support various government initiatives. Thank you very much for supporting the government for this good cause of bringing modern equipment that will help to improve laboratory services in our hospitals,” he said.
He called on the residents of Kahama to take care of their health and has also asked the leadership of the Kahama Municipal Hospital and the Bugarama Health Center to ensure that they properly manage the use and care of the equipment provided by the government and donors.
