Bagamoyo DC adopts ICT use in meetings

BAGAMOYO District Council has started using Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in its meet

ings a move which is expected to save money, time and increase efficiency. The council becomes the first in the region to start using ICT systems in conducting its meetings.

District Executive Director (DED) Mr Shauri Selenda said in Bagamoyo Town on Tuesday that council had spent 40m/- in buying 40 tablets which are going to be used by the councilors and head of departments.

“Today’s meeting has been quite different compared to the previous ones … all participants followed the meeting and it has enabled us to conclude it within a short time,” he said.

Meanwhile, the government has provided 600m/- to Bagamoyo Council for construction of 33 classrooms in secondary schools.

Council’s Chairman Mr Mohammed Usinga thanked the government for dishing out the money pledging that it will be used for the intended purposes.

“Our Government is very concerned with our children. It works very hard to ensure that they get good education in friendly environment. Our responsibility is to make sure that the money is well spend and support the efforts of our government”, he noted.
