Azam win CAF CL ticket
GEITA: AZAM finished the NBC Premier League runners-up to Young Africans to earn a spot in the CAF Champions League after winning 2-0 against Geita Gold at Nyankumbu Stadium in Geita yesterday.
Azam finished the league with 69 points the same with Simba SC who defeated JKT Tanzania 2-0 at Benjamin Mkapa stadium in Dar es Salaam but had to settle for a third place because of goal differences.
Simba SC will now represent Tanzania in the CAF Confederation.
Yesterday matches involving the two Dar es Salaam giants were eagerly awaited as both teams were eager to win the second place.
The first half ended goalless to both venues, setting the stage for an intense second half. Azam scored with goals from Yeison Fuentes in the 58th minute and Feisal Salum in the 78th minute.

Simba scored with goals from Saido Ntibazonkiza in the 88th minute and Willy Onana in the 90th minute.
Simba, on the other hand, have secured a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup, along with Coastal Union, who finished fourth with 43 points.
In the other NBC Premier League matches, Mashujaa won 3-0 over Dodoma Jiji at Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma.
Kagera Sugar avoided relegation after a 3-2 victory against Singida Big Stars at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza.
Ihefu triumphed 5-1 over relegated side Mtibwa Sugar at Liti Stadium in Singinda, while Namungo secured a 3-2 victory against Tabora United.
Coastal Union and Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) played to a goalless draw.
