Azam want creativity though at helm

DESPITE finding the winning remedy, Azam caretaker coach Kali Ongala has demanded more creativity in his squad as Ruvu Shooting trainer Charles Mkwasa blames poor officiating for their 1-0 loss.

Azam celebrated a 72nd -minute penalty netted by Idris Mbombo at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday to accumulate maximum points from a seemingly difficult game as they continue to maintain unbeaten run under Ongala.

It was Mbombo’s sixth goal of the campaign and he is Azam’s current top goal scorer followed by Prince Dube who has so far netted three goals to his name.

The victory has seen the Chamazi giants claiming 26 points from 12 matches as they intensity their battles to challenge for the Premier League title at the end of the campaign.

For Ruvu Shooting, the outcome was a pin in the neck bearing in mind that they dropped essential points which could have lifted them up on the ladder as they remain with 11 points after 12 outings.

“We are happy with the three points generated from the home venue even though the level of performance was not entirely satisfactory as we usually play but we have a couple of days to prepare for the next game.

“It is true that we are struggling a lot to get good results when playing at home and this is something we are going to work at when we go to the training ground,” said Ongala after the match.

He therefore called on his charges to be more aggressive and has demanded creativity especially at goal mouth so as to turn into goals numerous scoring chances they make during the encounter.

On his part, Mkwasa said poor refereeing was the bottleneck which prevented them from coming out clean on the day as he questioned the validity of the penalty awarded to their opponent.

“I am discouraged with the penalty but our game plan worked well that is why they found it difficult to score in open play…we still have many games to play and hopefully, we will win in our next match,” said him.
