Azam pick Morocco for pre-season training
DAR ES SALAAM: PREMIER League side Azam FC has unveiled that they will conduct a long preseason drill in the North African state of Morocco ahead of the eventful 2024/25 campaign.
The Chamazi based side alongside Young Africans will represent the country in the CAF Champions League (CAF CL) next season, a status they clinched after scooping second place in the Premier League last season.
According to the club’s Head of Information Department Thabit Zakaria, they expect to leave the country on July 14th en route to Morocco.
“By July 4th, we expect to receive all players from holiday, and on July 5th we will begin training right here at Azam Complex in the city until on July 6th. “
On July 7th to 13th, the team will pitch a brief training camp in Zanzibar before returning to Dar es Salaam ready to jet off to Morocco on July 14th where we will have a long training camp to the end of July.
“Thereafter, the squad will jet back in the country to prepare for the Community Shield matches that signal the kick-off of the new league season,” he said.

Concerning the ongoing reshuffle at the club, Zakaria revealed that so far, they have released five players who will not be part of the team for the next season.
“We have let go Edward Manyama, Daniel Amoah, Issa Ndala, Ayoub Lyanga and Malickou Ndoye who played a vital role in our team throughout their stay…we wish them all the best wherever they go and they will remain part of Azam FC family. “
For now, we have already introduced five new signings and we are also going to unveil new players who will be signed while at the same time others will be released. “
What we are doing is to strengthen the squad and not to destroy it because next season, we want to win titles…if we win the Premier League title, it will be good for us, same as clinching the Community Shield, the CRDB Bank Federation Cup or even the CAF CL title,” he said.
Azam last claimed the Premier League trophy in the 2013/14 season when they lifted it in a fascinating style without losing any match.
