DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA SC secured an impressive 2-0 victory over KenGold FC in a Premier League match played yesterday at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.
The win elevates Simba to second place on the league table with 31 points, while KenGold remain at the bottom with just six points. Azam FC continues to lead the standings with 33 points, having played three games more than Simba.
The match saw Simba dominate from the start, showcasing their strength and energy throughout the game.
In the opening 15 minutes, Simba launched relentless attacks on KenGold’s goal, but the KenGold goalkeeper stood firm, making several crucial saves to keep his team in the game. Simba’s persistence paid off in the 32nd minute when Awesu Awesu was fouled by a KenGold defender, resulting to a penalty. Striker Leonel Ateba stepped up and calmly converted the spot-kick, putting Simba ahead with a 1-0 lead.
The pressure continued and in the 40th minute, Simba earned a corner kick, which was expertly delivered by Valentin Nouma and headed by Leonel Ateba for his second goal of the match.
At halftime, Simba led 2-0, with them demonstrating dominance over their struggling opponents.
In the second half, Simba maintained momentum, their coach Fadlu Davids making key substitutions. Awesu Awesu was replaced by Ahoua Charles, Fabrice Ngoma made way for Yusuph Kagoma and Mzamiru Yassin was substituted for Augustine Okajepha. Despite these changes, Simba continued to dominate the game.
KenGold attempted to create chances in search of a consolation goal but failed to capitalise on any opportunities. They struggled to match Simba’s intensity and were outclassed in all aspects of the game.
When the final whistle blew, Simba walked away with three valuable points, further cementing their position as title contenders.
Simba SC will return to action on December 21, facing Kagera Sugar at Kaitaba Stadium. KenGold will play their next league match on December 24 against Singida Big Stars.
