ASFC 2022: Yanga test Kurugenzi

YOUNG Africans begin Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) title defence with a nerve-racking fixture as they welcome Kurugenzi FC at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam today.

The two teams lock horns for a space in the third round of the contest knowing in advance that it is played on knockout format and here is where the tricky part of the game is found.

To reach this far, Kurugenzi defeated Mwadui 2-1 at Mwadui Complex in Shinyanga meaning that they are equally a good and capable side to reach far in the competition.

For Yanga, this is an opportunity to stamp success in order to cement their quest of defending all the three trophies they won last season.

Another game today will see KMC host Tunduru Korosho at Uhuru Stadium in the city for yet another entertaining match as each side is eager to make it to the third round of the contest.

Tomorrow, Cosmopolitan host Mbeya Kwanza while Magereza go head to head with Pan African with both games pegged at 4:00pm.

Azam have already qualified for the next round after hammering Malimao 9-0 at Azam Complex in Chamazi on Friday evening.

It was another 100 per cent performance by the Ice Cream makers who continue to record success in most of their matches under the tutelage of caretaker coach Kali Ongala.
