She said her initial engagements in the district were guided by the 4Rs agenda championed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, which promotes reconciliation, resilience, reform and rebuilding.

“My commitment is to work with all stakeholders, regardless of their political affiliations, to ensure Arumeru residents access better services and development opportunities, in line with the President’s directives,” she said.

Chadema secretary for Arumeru East, Pallangyo Penzila, commended the DC for taking time to understand the district and its people as she began her duties, saying the approach was important for informed decision-making and effective service delivery.

Mr Penzila said Ms Lugangira’s education, experience and commitment to public service could contribute to development in Meru if stakeholders maintained genuine cooperation despite their political differences.

Meanwhile, United Peoples Democratic Party (UPDP) chairperson for Arumeru East, Magdalena Masaka, praised the DC for meeting political party representatives at the start of her tenure, saying the move demonstrated readiness to strengthen cooperation between the government and political stakeholders.

Ms Masaka said political parties had responsibilities beyond elections, including supporting development initiatives, protecting peace and maintaining stability in their communities.

“As opposition parties we are ready to continue working with the DC and the government to ensure residents benefited from development efforts,” she added.
