Arts Minister: Talent pays handsomely

Tanzanians have been encouraged to come out and showcase their talents in order to be given necessary assistance that will blossom their skills and reap deserved success.

Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports Mohamed Mchengerwa made the remarks recently in Dar es Salaam when he received a report on copyright and royalties insisting that time is here for talented people to get known.

“There is no other sector which provide more employment opportunities other than the sector of culture and sports. Perhaps, we are still asleep but this is the moment to wake up.

“In sports sector during global contests mainly marathon, competitors from other countries if they emerge winners, they get between 500m/- and 600m/-. As such, this is the right time to wake up,” Mchengerwa said.

He continued: “Every talented Tanzanian wherever they are should begin showing his or her skills and as the ministry, we are prepared to invade each street in every District to identify hidden talents.

“Soon, we will launch a talent identification program and we have already talked with our partners Fulham who will bring the technology here. This programme will be helping to find out talents of people wherever they are.”

Moreover, Mchengerwa noted that under his navigation of the ministry, he will ensure that they all work hard to achieve the set up objectives and transforming lives of Tanzanians.

“We have no other words to tell Tanzanians apart from working hard for them and ensuring that they get what they deserve from their government,” he cemented.

On the other hand, the minister hailed Tanzania envoys who succeeded in the just concluded Commonwealth Games in Birmingham for putting the country on the world map saying they will continue to enjoy full backing of government.

On his part, Felix Simbu who won silver medal during the competition seized the platform to urge government and other stakeholders not to stop in helping Tanzanian athletes for them to do well in international games.

“We should remember that in 2024, there will be Olympic Games which are renowned in the world hence strategies on how we want to compete should begin now by making sure that we get many representatives.

“These athletes need early preparations because there are qualification marks which a person should meet before claiming access to compete. We are ready to fly high our national flag in various global events…we just require your support,” said him.
