Antidoping President welcomes artists to join campaign
President Samia Suluhu Hassan has called on arts groups in the country to help government in disseminating information about dangers of drug abuse.
Speaking at a function to commemorate International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Traffic in Arusha on Sunday, the President says collaboration efforts are required to tackle the problem.
“I appeal to arts groups in the country to assist us in fighting against the use of drug abuse.
“When Diamond was singing at the stage, youths were singing along the whole song…and I whispered to Prime Minister [Kassim Majaliwa] if when asked about public matters they can answer,” Samia says.
She adds: “As such, our artistes like Diamond, Harmonize, Mrisho Mpoto and many others should include messages that promote good values to these youths in their songs.
“We want to build a better today and tomorrow for them,” the President says.
She also urged parents and guardians to thoroughly monitor progress of their children in order to help them become productive individuals.
