Ambassador reveals sectors attracting Türkiye investors to TZ

Ambassador of Turkiye to Tanzania Dr Mehmet Gulluoglu

DAR ES SALAAM : TÜRKIYE Ambassador to Tanzania Dr Mehmet Gülluoglu, has cited agriculture, mining, food production and processing and tourism as key sectors attracting investors from his country to Tanzania.

Mr Gulluoglu revealed this on Tuesday during the Tanzania -Turkiye Business to Business (B2B) meeting held in Dar es Salaam.

He stated that he was working hard to promote Tanzania in Turkey to attract more investments.

“We want to invest in Tanzania heavily because Tanzania has got very big potential compared to other African countries and we want to buy quality goods from Tanzania,” Mr Gulluoglu said.

The B2B brought together more than 30 companies from Turkiye and more than 100 business people from Tanzania.

The meeting was aimed at strengthening and complementing new business ties between Tanzania and Türkiye.

“Tanzania is well positioned and it is a very important hub of business in East Africa. We are trying to share market opportunities in both Turkiye and Tanzania. As diplomatic mission, we are observing and trying to increase our relations in different fields in economic, cultural, politics and various fields,” said Dr Gulluoglu.

He visited many places of Tanzania and during his visit he found out that there were number of areas that Turkiye companies can invest. Dr Gulluoglu stated that Turkiye, like Tanzania, major production activity is agriculture, hence the two countries can well cooperate in that area.

In line with this, the cooperation in industrial sector was also paramount since Turkey has many industries that have been operating for several years from which Tanzania can learn.

The envoy said the trade relationship between the two countries has seen trade volume reaching 400 million US dollars.

On her part, Minister for Industry and Trade, Dr Ashatu Kijaji said in 2021, Tanzania exported goods worth 37.6 million US dollars to Türkiye.

The main products exported from Tanzania to Türkiye were gold 14.9 million US dollars and raw tobacco 11.2 million US dollars.

“I hope this trade mission will further enhance these figures by effectively utilising the potentials we have in our two dear countries,” said Dr Kijaji.
