AL AHLY 1-1 SIMBA: Reds eliminated from AFL after 3-3 aggregate
EGYPT, CAIRO: Mission in Cairo has not been successfully completed as Tanzania’s giants Simba bow out of the African Football League (AFL) after a 3-3 aggregate defeat against Al Ahly.
The game at Cairo International Stadium in Egypt on Tuesday has elapsed 1-1, enough for the Egyptian side to slide into the AFL semi-finals.
A deflected header from Sadio Kanoute in the 67th minute drove Simba close to the last four phase as they seemed to dictate matters.
But, the hosts equalised the deficit eight minutes later via Mahamoud Kahraba to make it all square.
In the first leg clash at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, the end product after tense normal period of play was 2-2.
However, it was another good fight for the country’s envoys at the away venue as they excelled to trouble the number one club on the continent.
