Airtel Tanzania, DTBi join forces to host African Code Challenge

Airtel Tanzania has partnered with Dar Tekhohama Business Incubator (DTBi) to host African Code Challenge for pupils and students in Dar es Salaam.

The African Code Challenge is aimed at widening the initiative to install digital literacy and coding skills in the young African generation.

According to Jackson Mmbando Airtel Corporate communications manager says strong partnerships with the public, private and non-profit sectors are the driving force behind the initiative’s ability towards sustainable learning impact.

He adds the initiative goes parallel with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The African Code Challenge, which is supported by SAP of Ireland and Irish Aid, works as a catalyser that provides the great chance for them to change the world with their Superpowers on coding skills (Scratch programming), allowing pupils/students to start understanding what computers at an early stage and have a logical approach to learning and problem solving.

In this year African Code Challenge mission: program a Scratch collaborative game on the theme: Protecting life together, the participating children will have to code a sustainable solution to an environmental issue in their community.
