KILIMANJARO: AIRTEL Tanzania has donated internet routers to 50 public schools in Rombo District, Kilimanjaro Region, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing digital learning across the country.
This donation is part of Airtel’s partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) under the Airtel SMARTWASOMI initiative, aimed at bridging the digital divide and providing public schools with access to online educational resources.
Airtel Tanzania’s Regional Business Manager, Mr Stephen Akyoo, said, “This initiative will boost digital education by increasing access to online educational materials, equipping both teachers and students with the digital tools needed to thrive in today’s evolving educational environment.”
Launched on May this year, the initiative aims to digitise teaching and learning platforms in 3,000 public schools across the country over the next five years.

The routers will provide students with easier access to digital learning materials, enhancing academic performance and efficiency.
The Regional Education Officer representative, Mr Adam Ally, said, “Airtel’s internet service will significantly improve the learning environment for students in Rombo, helping them excel academically and enabling staff to adopt modern teaching methods.”
