Airtel Africa hypes African music at Trace Awards 2025

ZANZIBAR: Airtel Africa has reaffirmed its commitment to uplifting African music and talent through its superior network, ensuring artists achieve their dreams on a global stage.
The network provider made the pledge during the Trace Awards and Summit 2025, held at The Mora in Zanzibar from February 24 to 26.
The event was officially opened by the President of Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, who underscored the government’s dedication to supporting the music industry by fostering a conducive environment for its growth.
“We believe in the power of the entertainment sector to drive change because music is a great tool that inspires empowerment, promotes tourism, encourages economic growth, and enhances social development. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank all stakeholders who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this event,” said Dr. Mwinyi.
Commenting on the event and Airtel Africa’s partnership with the Trace Awards, Airtel Tanzania’s Marketing Director, Timea Chogo, said the awards present a unique opportunity for emerging talents to connect with new audiences and entertainment stakeholders across the globe.

“Hosting this international event in Zanzibar has created economic opportunities for artists in Tanzania by allowing them to showcase their talents.
Furthermore, we are proud to celebrate this event taking place in our homeland, as nine Tanzanian artists have been nominated. We are aligning connectivity with African creativity to help artists reach greater heights,” said Chogo.
On his part, Airtel Tanzania’s Brand Ambassador, Nassib Abdul, popularly known as Diamond Platnumz, emphasized the role of Airtel Africa in facilitating seamless communication for all participants.
“The Trace Awards have brought together people from across Africa and beyond. Airtel’s presence ensures attendees stay connected through data services and other essential communication tools, enabling them to stay in touch with family and friends, conduct business, and share their content with other artists,” he stated.
The Trace Awards 2025 also sparked meaningful discussions on the current state of African music and strategies to propel it to global audiences.
