Agricom wins global award for growth

DAR ES SALAAM: AGRICOM Africa Limited’s 17-year contribution to agricultural transformation, through promoting mechanisation and expanding farmers’ access to modern farming equipment, has earned the company global recognition for its business growth.

The Dar es Salaambased company received the global growth award from India’s Mahindra & Mahindra at a conference in Mumbai, attended by Mahindra and Swaraj distributors from around the world.

Agricom Founder and Managing Director Angelina Ngalula said the recognition reflected a 17-year partnership with Mahindra and its confidence in her vision to build a strong agricultural business in Tanzania and Africa.

Ms Ngalula said she started Agricom in 2009 with limited capital and no experience in tractor sales, but Mahindra trusted her to become the sole distributor of Swaraj Tractors products in Tanzania.

“At the time, I had an idea, determination, courage and a strong belief in the potential of Africa’s agricultural sector,” she said.
