TURKIYE: MINISTER for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has underscored that Africa’s economic development depends on strong unity among nations in identifying and addressing shared challenges.
Speaking over the weekend at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Türkiye, where he participated in a panel discussion titled “The Rising Role of Africa in World Politics,” Amb Kombo stressed the importance of collaboration across the continent.
“Enhanced unity will allow African countries to foster a culture of dialogue on pressing economic issues and formulate effective, home-grown solutions,” he said.
Amb Kombo also stressed the need to improve education systems across Africa to equip young people with the skills necessary to create jobs—particularly by tapping into the continent’s vast natural resources.
Other African foreign ministers who attended the fo rum included Mr Léon Adom of Ivory Coast, Ms Maria Dos Santos of Mozambique, Ms Sara Beysolow Nyanti of Liberia, Mr Olivier Patrick of Rwanda and Mr Olushegun Bakari of Benin.

The forum also featured Professor Mehmet Özkan, a lecturer at the Turkish National Defence University.
The Antalya Diplomacy Forum brought together heads of state and government, prime ministers, foreign affairs ministers, heads of international organisations, policymakers, academics, business leaders and representatives from civil society organisations.
The event was officially opened on Friday by Türki ye’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
