DAR ES SALAAM: Minister of Health Jenista Mhagama led mourners, including Kigamboni residents, in paying their final respects to former Kigamboni MP and World Health Organization (WHO) Africa Region Director-Elect, the late Dr Faustine Ndugulile.
The farewell ceremony was held on Tuesday at Tungi Grounds in Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam, with Dr. Ndugulile’s burial scheduled for later the same day at Mwongozo Cemetery in Kigamboni.
During the event, several groups and individuals paid heartfelt tributes.
Simba Sports Club, of which Dr Ndugulile was a member, was represented by the club’s chairman, Murtaza Mangungu.
Mangungu praised Dr Ndugulile, highlighting his determination to vie for the parliamentary seat despite the loss of his father at the time.
“He was courageous and determined… We will strive to uphold the good work he started,” Mangungu said.
Dr. Grace Maghembe, representing the WHO Campaign Committee, lauded Dr Ndugulile’s achievements, emphasizing that his success paved the way for more Tanzanians to take up global roles.
“His boldness proved that Tanzanians can excel internationally,” she stated.

Kigamboni District Commissioner Halima Bulembo described Dr Ndugulile’s death as a significant loss, commending him as a tireless advocate for his constituency.
She recalled their joint efforts to address challenges at the Magogoni Ferry, including a collaboration with the private sector, notably Azam Marine.
“Through his leadership, we engaged Azam Marine to find sustainable solutions for Magogoni ferry operations. Recently, the Minister of Works confirmed the launch of a public-private partnership to improve services,” she said.
Ms Bulembo also urged Kigamboni residents to honor Dr Ndugulile’s memory as improvements to the ferry service begin to materialize in January.
