Kibaha DC boosts revenue from 3.8bn/- to 14bn/-

COAST REGION: KIBAHA District Council in the Coast Region has significantly increased its internal revenue, growing from 3.8bn/- in 2020 to 14bn/- in 2024, enabling the implementation of major development projects.

The council’s outgoing Chairman, Mr Mussa Ndomba, made the announcement during a special meeting to dissolve the council ahead of the upcoming General Election held at the council offices on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by District Commissioner Mr Nickson Simon, District Executive Director (DED) Mr Rodgers Shemwelekwa, heads of departments and other government officials.

“We have used these funds to carry out a range of development projects,” said Mr Ndomba.

“This includes the construction of 11 primary schools, three of which are English-medium, as well as nine secondary schools and the rehabilitation of 17 existing schools.”

He added that the Council has also constructed two health centres in Pangani and Kongowe, along with nine new dispensaries during the same period.

Among other major infrastructure projects, the council successfully completed the council headquarters building, Kibaha Shopping Mall, a modern abattoir and a designated vehicle parking area.

In terms of road development, Mr Ndomba said that the council had expanded its asphalt road network, while electricity and water supply infrastructure were also upgraded to meet the growing needs of residents.

Speaking at the event, District Commissioner Nickson Simon praised the council’s accomplishments, attributing the success to effective government policies and close collaboration among stakeholders.

“All these achievements are a result of sound policies implemented by our government. We commend the leadership and the people of Kibaha for working together to drive progress,” he said.

In accordance with the Local Government (Urban Authorities) Act, Chapter 288, Section 84A and the Local Government (District Authorities) Act, Chapter 287, Section 178A, local government assemblies are required to be dissolved seven days before the dissolution of Parliament in preparation for the General Election.
