Dodoma to build 3.99bn/- modern secondary school

DODOMA: THE Dodoma City Council has signed a 3.99bn/- construction contract to establish Chahwa Secondary School, a modern educational facility set to benefit students from Chahwa Ward and surrounding areas.
The contract was signed recently by City Director Dr Fredrick Sagamiko and Gopa Contractors Limited.
The entire project will be funded through the Council’s internal revenue collections. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr Sagamiko said the new school will comprise five multi-storey buildings, including student dormitories and will be built in two phases.
He said that the Council has adopted a vertical construction strategy to optimise land use and expand student capacity.
“Dodoma City Council is now prioritising vertical infrastructure to make better use of limited land. This 3.99bn/- project is fully funded from our own internal revenue figures that, in other councils, represent annual collections,” said Dr Sagamiko.

He praised the City Council’s leadership and elected members for prioritising robust revenue collection systems, which have enabled such transformative investments.
“This achievement is a reflection of the excellent performance of our revenue systems and the strong leadership of the Council,” he added.
Dr Sagamiko also urged the community to take full advantage of the new school by enrolling and supporting students.
Dodoma Urban MP Anthony Mavunde challenged the contractor to complete the project within the stipulated 12 months, enabling students to benefit from the new facility as early as possible.
“This modern school infrastructure will inspire students to pursue education. We thank the government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan for this milestone. Similar developments have taken place in Kiwanja cha Ndege, Chamwino and Chang’ombe,” said Mr Mavunde.

Chahwa Ward Councillor Sospeter Mazengo also expressed gratitude to the government on behalf of residents, calling the school a historic milestone for the area.
He stressed the need to ensure the school serves a broad catchment area, helping to spread knowledge and promote community development across Dodoma.
